It’s impossible to purchase new blood by importing Serama from Malaysia or other Asian countries due to worldwide spreading of the high pathogenic avian influenza called birdflu H5N1. Since all organizations and governments promote stamping out as method to prevent the spread of birdflu instead of massive vaccination, all poultry is in danger! As far as we know there are no protection programs for endangered and rare poultry breeds so the individual breeder is the only one responsible for survival of his or her flock in case of an outbreak.

We have to do it with the birds we already have and maintain a sound breeding program, more then ever in history. We plea for protection of our rare domestic breeds, including the Serama.

There are registrations in several countries so governments can keep track of small breeders this can be done when the same governments give protection and make laws for rare and endangered breeds.

WSF is not a political organization but is subjected to all different laws and registrations in their members countries. Since WSF is established for the benefit of the Serama breed, it can’t be asked to cooperate in measurements, regulations and rules that endanger that breed.

WSF prohibits itself to destroy (delete) all registrations of her members in case governmental organizations force (international) poultry organizations to give the list of members unless that same governments provides in protection laws for rare breeds and therefore protect the Serama for rigorously stamping out methods either by isolation or preventive vaccination and the promise not to kill healthy vaccinated birds but set them in quarantine for as long as necessary.
